Hanami Viewing

Hanami (花見, “flower viewing”) is the Japanese traditional custom of enjoying the beauty of the cherry blossoms.

In Japan, hanami mostly consists of having an outdoor party beneath the sakura during daytime or at night Hanami at night is called yozakura (夜桜) “night sakura”). It’s a popular opportunity for people to stage picnics in parks, which is something Bunkasai has staged itself occasionally.

The British weather can sometimes be a hindrance to hanami picnics, although with the right company the occasion can be just as warm and fun as the summer months.
